If you don’t know what World Sight Day is, allow me to shed some beautiful light. World sight day is the second Thursday in October every year. It is an important advocacy day for the Community, for awareness around the prevention and treatment of Blindness. World Sight Day is a time to engage with others on the importance of proper eye care. By urging those around us to focus more on the significance of proper eye exams, especially for those in need who cannot afford to maintain yearly eye exams.
Now keep in mind World Sight Day doesn’t just advocate for eye exams but also for rehabilitation, and irreversible loss of vision.
Studies show that there is an estimated seven million individuals that become visually impaired and that more than half (80%) of cases are avoidable.
L’Occitane created a limited edition collection in honor of World Sight Day. The Gem of this collection is the Solidarity Soap which not only smells wonderful, but for every soap purchased an eye exam or pair of glasses is provided for someone in need in the rural areas of Burkina Faso.
With the launch of this collection it brings together two of L’Occitane’s strongest commitments- the support of the visually impaired as well as the support of entrepreneurship of Women in Burkina Faso. With that being said L’Occitane works with 17,000 Women in the country to produce the Shea Butter that is found in many of their Body care items today and these women are paid 3.5 the market price for their product and 80% up front to provide income throughout the year.
FUN FACT: L’Occitane is the first brand to include brail on their packaging.
I love the smell of this collection the scent of the Shea Butter and Honey is very soft and the hand cream like many of the other L’Occitane creams is very moisturizing on the skin. Now that the weather is cooling down and my skin gets a little drier the Ultra soft body cream is perfect to add to my body care routine to restore my skins moisture.
This collection will be launching on October 6th in store and online
